The YWCA "SheThrives" Entrepreneur Program is designed to assist women and persons identifying as women who are returning to the workforce through entrepreneurship. It offers a range of services and resources to help women start their own businesses as freelancers, gig workers, or independent contractors.

The program includes online digital skills training, as well as small group and one-on-one support sessions tailored to the specific needs of the participants. These sessions are designed to guide individuals through the process of creating a comprehensive business plan, as well as helping to develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed as entrepreneurs.

In addition, the program provides a step-by-step pathway for participants to follow, complete with a checklist of acquired skills and requirements. This helps ensure that participants have everything they need to start and succeed as freelancers, gig workers, or independent contractors.

All the information you need to participate in the program can be found on this website. Check back frequently for updates to the program.

What is a Gig Worker?

Gig workers, also known as freelancers or independent contractors, are individuals who work in the gig economy, which is characterized by short-term, project-based employment arrangements. Gig workers are not employed by a single company or organization, but rather work with various clients on a project-by-project basis.

To be successful in the gig economy, gig workers need to have a strong set of skills and expertise in their chosen field, as well as excellent time management and work ethic habits. In addition, gig workers should be adaptable and open to learning new things, as they may be called upon to work on a wide range of projects for different clients. Gig workers may work in a variety of industries, including creative fields, technical fields, and more. Read about gig work here...
